Canon Tom Kennar took up his post at "vibrant" old Havant Church to become the parish priest for St Faith’s Church, in the centre of Havant, and St Nicholas Church, Langstone in February 2015. He was an area dean for Portsmouth, and has substantial connections with churches in West Africa, where he is the Honorary Canon of two cathedrals in Ghana, Cape Coast and Ho (Volta Region).
As well as being the Rector of St Faith's Tom is an accomplished musician and singer. At the beginning of February he starred in "An evening with Tom Kennar", in the church, which turned out to be a musical spectacular. A sum of £1000.00 was raised towards the "Big Build Campaign" which is looking to raise £800,000.00 to repair, refurbish and restore its two main buildings.
He has also added to his busy workload by becoming The Solent Male Voice Choir's President, and we are very honoured and pleased that he has done so. Also for finding time to sing with the choir on occasions, in our various concerts. A great thank you from all the members of the choir.

We are pleased to announce that Geoff Porter has taken over as our Musical Director.
In 2014 Geoff Porter, B.Ed (Hons), joined The Solent Male Voice Choir as a Deputy Musical Director and since his arrival the Male Voice Choir’s repertoire now includes music especially arranged for them by him. Geoff has been a Musical Director for Chichester & Littlehampton Operatic Societies, Opera South, Bognor Regis Music Club and Havant Light Opera. He is also a presenter on Angel Radio, and we hope he will enjoy leading us into the New Year and beyond.
Michael has recently completed his BA (hons) in Music at the University of Chichester, achieving a First Class Honours degree. At the University, Michael was involved with many of the University’s productions as Repetiteur, Chorus Master and Assistant Musical Director. Michael also worked as the Musical Director for some student-led shows and for the Lavant Players.
Michael is also a very keen composer, with several of his compositions and arrangements being performed by ensembles at the University and on tour in Guernsey. His dissertation featured new settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittus with a Gloria and the anthem God So Loved The World.
Having left University, Michael is now looking to further his career in Music having also taken on the accompanist role with the Fareham Philharmonic Choir whilst looking into becoming a music teacher.
